| Ex-Jail cop's wife levels grave allegations against Jail superintendent | | | Sumit Sharma
JAMMU, Nov 2: Guards stationed at District Jail Ambphalla are giving undue favours to notorious criminal Sunny Baba while charging money from others.
Jail superintendent is facilitating this nexus. These serious allegations have been leveled by Sunita Kumari, wife of a prisoner namely Surinder Kumar. Insiders maintain that the present superintendent jail Vinod Kumar was posted as District Jail head after he filed case against his posting to Srinagar.
Sunita Kumari, speaking to the Early Times alleged that she has prepared legal documents to sue Jail head against his alleged biasness and harassment of her husband. Leveling allegations, she said that jail head allowed meeting of an unauthorized visitor with Sunny Baba and other influential prisoners, in violation of jail rules adding that the visitor did not register himself with the jail's public relations office.
Sources working with jail administration said that this kind of access was never provided to any inmate's visitor in the past. "It is a serious violation of rules and a security breach as a visitor is barred from reaching the inner perimeter of the jail," the source said.
Surinder Kumar was booked for helping former Central jail head Saleem Beigh for hatching a 'conspiracy' and favouring the alleged culprits in Amandeep Murder case from inside the jail premises. A weapon was also recovered from the possession of Surinder Kumar. Sunny Baba was also arrested for hatching conspiracy to eliminate Sudarshan Singh Wazir, an eyewitness of the case.
She further alleged that Jail Superintendent has been harassing his husband. "My husband is forced to do physical work for hours besides he has been kept with two lunatics," alleged the wife of Surinder. She said maintained that her husband is a sugar patient and would not be able to tolerate physical torture any more.
She said that she made an attempt to meet ADG Prison to apprise him the about the situation but to no avail. ADG Prison Naveen Angral when contacted confirmed that district jail head Vinod Kumar had filed case against his posting to Srinagar for reasons best known to him. He assured of initiating departmental action into the allegations being leveled against SP District Jail Ambphalla as and when he receives the complaint.
