Army presents computers and peripherals to schools | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 3: The resolve and steadfastness of the Army to ensure better quality of life for the citizens of the country through its Op Sadbhavana programme it has won accolades in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. As part of this commitment to ensure quality grooming of future generations, a total of four schools were presented with IT equipments (computers and peripherals) recently in Akhnoor Tehsil. The area is one of the poorest blocks in terms of educational grant provided. The issue is further accentuated by ill equipped classrooms and nonexistent training facilities because of the remoteness of the locations. Army officials while interacting with the awam under Op Sadbhavana realised the requirement of computers as a means to encourage IT literacy in these under developed areas. A survey was carried and in consultation with Block Education Officer and four schools were identified and computers & peripherals were distributed at Government Middle School Badgal Kalan on 20 Aug 2011, Government High School Mawa Brahmanan and Government Middle School Kharwani on 27 Sep 2011 and Government High secondary School Sohal on 1 Nov 2011. Each school received two high end computers with complete accessories and a set of three dozen educational CDs.
