Court frames corruption charges against Junior Assistant for disproportionate assets | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, November-04 (JNF):- Special Judge Anti-corruption Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal today framed corruption charges against Mumtaz Hussain Bhat S/OLt. Mohd Sharief Bhat R/O Mohalla Jarnaili Poonch Junior Assistant then posted in office of Principal DIET Poonch.
According to the case during the investigation the VOJ found moveable and immovable property, total value of assets Rs 26, 52000/- and the basis of the facts the assets disproportionate to known source of income held by Junior Assistant are worked out as Rs 11, 60, 510/-. During the investigation, the investigating agency found that moveable and immovable assets including three storeyed building with shopping complex at Ward NO 5 Gandi Kassi, Poonch had been acquired by the accused during check period by restoring to corrupt practices. The attachment of such property including three storeyed building with shopping complex was attached by SSP (PRK) in his capacity as investigating officer; however, the order of attachment was revoked by the Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu on May 9, 2008. During the investigation it was found that in the year 1997 the accused public servant had purchased land measuring 5 Marlas and 2 Sarsai situated at Ward No 9 Mohalla Jernali Poonch, the land was purchased by the accused in his own name at the cost Rs 55000/-. During the period 1998-1999, the accused raised construction of a single story house on this piece of land. The construction cost of the house assessed by the experts found to be Rs 7, 75, 846/- and accessories to the tune of Rs more than 34000 and 39000 raising assets came to be Rs more than 9 lacs. The cost of the three storied building and shopping complex assessed at Rs more than 19 lacs, beside this the accused made investment in various banks in own name and in the name of his wife. The total assets was 26, 52, 000 in which disproportionate to his known source of income worked as Rs 11, 60, 510/-. Court after considering the case of the VOJ framed charges u/s 5(2) r/w section 5(1) (e) J&K PC Act 2006.
