Farmers suffer due to indifferent attitude of govt: BJP
11/4/2011 8:58:40 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 4:The BJP has always been raising the issues related to the farmers. It is our firm belief that a farmer is one who produces crops for the survival of whole population and as such his problems should be solved on priority.
This was stated by BJP National Executive Member and MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria, while addressing “Jan Jagran Yatra” meetings at Kanhal, Chak Avtara, Bishnah, Banachak, Ratnal, Khojpur, Madua, Chimnachak, Saidgarh, Riyal, Karyal, Suhalpur and Arnia on Friday.
Ashok Khajuria said that a farmer, who is also called Anndatta, is made to suffer on account of the indifferent attitude of the state government and the Food Corporation of India. He said that the government has been promoting the interests of middle men who purchase the crop products from the farmers at cheaper rates and later sell them at higher prices due to which farmers have to incur losses.
He said that the government should activate its agencies and make sure that the farmers get the due benefits. He also criticized the government for its failure in providing regular electricity and other necessary items which a farmer needs to grow crops. He also lambasted the NC-Congress coalition government for not formulating a sustainable and farmer friendly policy which can take care of the interests of the farmers.
Ashok Khajuria said that it is not the farmer only but the government employees, educated youth, pensioners, daily wagers, who are also suffering due to the policies of the government which in no way can be termed as people friendly. He appealed the masses to get united and strengthen the hands of BJP so that a strong opposition is built against the present government which have been taking one decision after the other with a clear motive of harassing the people.
State Vice-president Chander Prakash Ganga in his address criticized the coalition government for extending the benefits of various welfar schemes to the persons who although do not deserve but are close to the leaders of NC and Congress. He said that this practice should be checked and a process be evolved which give the benefit to poor and needy.
