Proclaimed offender arrested after 24 years | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 4:A proclaimed offender was arrested today after 24 years of the commission of offence from village Parlah under the jurisdiction of Arnia Police Station. The offender was wanted in a hit and run case. It was in the year 1987, a bus on its way from RS Pura to village Sai when reached near village Chak Mohammad Yar, hit a cart puller due to rash, negligent and careless driving by the driver of the bus. The cart puller got grievously injured while driver of the vehicle fled away from the spot after abandoning the bus. A case FIR No. 275/1986 u/s 379/304-A/RPC was registered at Police Station R S Pura in this context. The accused driver namely Surjeet Singh alias Jeeta son of Natha Ram of Parlah, R S Pura, District Jammu remained at large after the commission of the offence for the last 24 years. During this absconding period of the accused he was declared as a proclaimed offender by the Court. Arnia Police after sustained and concerted efforts developed input regarding his whereabouts and succeeded in apprehending the proclaimed offender from his native village.
