Proclaimed offender held after 24 yrs

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 04: A proclaimed offender was today arrested by police after 24 years of
the commission of offence at Parlah in Arnia near here.
He was identified as Surjeet Singh alias Jeeta, son of Natha Ram of Parlah.
Police said in 1987, he had hit a cart-puller while driving a bus at Chak Mohammad Yar
in R S Pura. He was evading arrest since them.
A case under sections 379 and 304-A of RPC was registered against him at R S Pura
police station. As he remained at large after the commission of the crime, he was
declared "proclaimed offender" by the court.
He was apprehended by Arnia police on a tip-off from his native village today, police

said.
