Jammu, Nov 4: Even as father -son duo Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have turned soft towards Congress lately by 'regretting' what their kin Mustafa Kamaal uttered against the party, the Congress continues to hit back, almost in series taking on NC in general and Abdullahs in particular. After PCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz and some senior functionaries of the party unit, the spokesperson Ravinder Sharma who came out with a statement castigating Mustafa and terming his utterances as totally 'unacceptable' to rank and file of the Congress.
On proverbial lines of better late than never, the General Secretary and Spokesperson PCC Ravinder Sharma, who is also MLC today said that Dr. Farooq Abdullah's advice to Dr. Mustafa Kamal not to speak against Congress party and thus condoning his sins for his highly malicious, misleading and derogatory statements against the Congress is not acceptable to the rank and file of the Congress party.
In a statement, Sharma said that since the inception of NC-Congress coalition government in the state, Dr. Mustafa Kamal had been issuing such statements in the same tone and tenor and had been repeating this time and again. "The advice of Dr. Farooq Abdullah, on one or two occasions has not served any purpose in the past also….." Sharma observed adding that the general perception in the public is that he (Dr. Kamal) has been rewarded for his these activities and assigned the duty of official spokesman of National Conference . " Dr. Kamal simply understands that the job of Spokesman is always to keep his mouth open, that too against the coalition partner….", Sharma maintained in the statement.
In what can be seen as lambasting the patron of the party Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the Congress spokesperson asserted that in the wake of what has been seen and experienced in the past, Dr Farooq's regrets won't serve any purpose for the cadres of Congress party who know that Dr. Kamal had always his foot in the mouth and would continue to do so. |
