| Poonch MLA distributes solar lights | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Poonch, Nov 5: Member Legislative Assembly Poonch Ajaz Ahmed Jan distributed 816 solar lights among those families whose houses are not electrified yet.
MLA has also distributed Identity Cards to the newly elected Sarpanches and Panches of Mandi tehsil,
In a programme organized by three government departments viz Department of Science and Technology, Power development department and Rural Development Department, MLA Ajaz Jan, Chief guest of the programme distributed solar lights to rural people who are still not having any electricity in their houses.
These solar lights are being provided by Department of Science and Technology on very low subsidy. In a similar another function organised in Digwar Panchayat of Block Poonch M.L.A Poonch distributed solar light in Border Panchayat of Block Poonch.
In a simple but impressive function the legislature appraised the gathering that soon another list of households will be prepared with the help of science and Technology, PDD and RDD Department for submission to central Govt.
Speaking on the occasion, Jan said thanked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Science and Technology Minister for providing these solar lights in the hilly and rural areas of Poonch & Mandi block.
He said that he had moved a proposal to the government to provide these lights to the needy people and he is thankful that government has mitigated his demand.
He said that he is going to distribute more such lights in near future to other areas of Poonch & mandi.
Demanding more similar solar lights for Poonch & Mandi areas, MLA said that he has also requested the concerned department to provide this facility to remaining areas of Poonch & Mandi so that all the people can get benefit of this.
He said that these are high powered solar lights and anything work on electricity will work on this light.
