| Badminton: JU women lose to Kurukshetra in quarters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 5: The women shuttlers of the University of Jammu (JU) gave their improved performance and lost only in the quarterfinals of the North Zone Inter-University Badminton (men, women) tournament held at DAV Institution of Engineering and Technology Jalandhar.
Jammu University women lost to Kurukshetra University Haryana 0-2 in the quarterfinals, after winning their first two rounds of matches.
Earlier, in the preliminary round, JU defeated Thapar University Patiala 2-0 and also registered a 2-0 win against Kanpur University.
The Team: Aakanksha Raina, Dhanvir Kour, Anchal Verma and Divya Bhogal.
Meanwhile, the men’s team could not make it to the next round after the side was beaten by formidable, Punjabi University Patiala 2-3 in a well contested game.
“The men team, despite giving a good fight, lost to the tough side of Punjabi University in the very first round but the women gave an improved performance this time,” team incharge, Vikram Jamwal said.
