Court rejects bail of accused in fake IC racket | | | ET Report Jammu, Nov 5: District mobile magistrate (Rajouri) Sheikh Parvaiz has rejected bail applications of the accused in fake Indian currency racket. The accused included cop Pawan Kumar, Main Altaf Ahmed, Satish Kumar, Rohit Gupta and Saleem Shah. They were arrested on October 27 last for their alleged involvement in a fake currency racket and booked under sections 489-A, 489-B, 489-C,489-D and 120-B of RPC. During investigation, the involvement of some other police officials and persons from Jammu had figured. Quoting judgments of Supreme Court, the court, in its 6-page order, held that economic offences were deep-rooted conspiracies, rendering huge loss to the public funds. These offences were proceeded by cool, calculated and deliberate designs with an eye on personal gains and therefore a strict message needed to be sent to those white collared criminals, the court said. In the facts and circumstances of the case, the court felt that any sympathy towards applicants would be entirely misplaced and against the large interest of the society. |
