Rain hit J&K-Assam Ranji tie ends in draw
Ian’s swashbuckling ton helps J&K post brisk 232/3

Srinagar Nov 6: Powered by a swashbuckling ton by Ian Dev Singh Chauhan and useful contributions by skipper Parvez Rasool and opener Adil Reshi, J&K posted a quick-fire 232 for 3 on the fourth and last day to share two points along with Assam in the rain-hit Plate Group-B match of the Ranji Trophy at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, here today.
The match resumed today after lunch when Assam declared their first innings at 297 for 4 and put J&K into bat.
Hosts rode on superb century scored by Ian Dev Singh, who hit 103 runs in 161 balls including 14 crispy boundaries to score 232 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 52.4 overs before stumps were drawn today. Apart from Ian, Adil Reshi scored brisk 47 runs in just 40 balls including 9 delectable boundaries, while skipper Parvez Rasool remained not out on 45 runs. Centurion I D Singh was out on the last ball of the match. J&K lost their first wicket in the form of Adil Reshi, LBW Goswami when the score was 63 runs while Fayaz Hazari fell at the total score of 147 runs at his individual score of 29 runs and then the stumps were drawn after Ian Dev Singh fell at a total score of 232 runs. For Assam, Tarjinder Singh, G Sharma and Goswami claimed one wicket apiece.
It may be recalled that Assam had posted 297 for 4 wickets with the help of century from DS Jadhav who had scored 135 runs on day one before the rain-hit two days. The tournament is being organized by Board of Control for Cricket in India and this match was hosted by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
