NSF demands quota for border area youth
11/7/2011 8:28:55 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 7:National Secular Forum (NSF) lambasted the state government for failing to conduct police recruitment for youth belonging to border belts especially in R S Pura sector. Addressing the press conference here today, State President NSF Vikas Sharma said that state government has failed to fulfil its commitment. He alleged that the government conducted recruitment rally for border youth in Akhnoor but it ignored the border villages in R S Pura sector.
Vikas Sharma said the government has made hollow promises with thousands of youth in border villages. “It was promised that youth residing in border villages will be given preference in police department and special recruitment drive will be conducted for them. While other villages in Jammu were covered under the drive, the areas falling in R S Pura sector were ignored and youth were deprived of their legitimate rights,” the NSF chief said.
He regretted that most of the youth in these villages have crossed the age limit for recruitment in police department while others are at the verge of overage. “The government should seriously look into the demands of border youth and immediate recruitment should be conducted so that they are delivered justice,” Sharma demanded. He also minced no word to take on R S Chib for playing with sentiments of youth in border villages and said such leaders should refrain from making hollow promises. Vikas Sharma President welcomed the youths who came openly to work for the areas joined the National Secular Forum. Surjit Choudhary District Chairman said that problems being faced by the youth in these areas should be taken on top priority and apart from this the youths from the border areas should be given preference in government jobs and other services. He said that where ALC category quota is given to the youths who are putting up near Line of Control, the youths belonging to border areas should also be provided the quota.
