J&K drubs Orissa by 48 runs in Shiv Nath Memorial T20

JAMMU, Nov 7: Aided by a fabulous all-round show by Satish, J&K thrashed Orissa by 48 runs in the match of the prestigious All India Level Open Shiv Nath Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Ballia District Cricket Association at Ballia in Uttar Pradesh today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K scored 106 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Satish was the top scorer with 39 runs, while Rahul Mussa contributed quick-fire 22 runs including one massive six and Rohit Sharma chipped in with well made 17 runs to give respectability to the total. Dipender was the pick of the bowlers from Orissa, scalping 4 important wickets, while Sajir and Shanni claimed 2 wickets each.
Orissa, in reply were bundled-out for paltry 58 runs as the team failed to face J&K’s disciplined bowling attack. None of the Orissa batsman could manage to cross the double-figure mark. Satish was the wrecker-in-chief for J&K, who claimed 3 important wickets with his military medium stuff, while Nitin Mehra and Romy took 2 wickets each and Rohit Sharma picked one. Satish of J&K was adjudged man of the match for his all-round display to earn him a cash prize of one thousand rupees. Now, J&K will face Haryana in the second match of its pool tomorrow.
It is pertinent to mention here that the winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 40000, while the runners-up team will receive Rs 25000 as cash award. Besides these awards, along with trophies and mementoes, cash prizes will be given to every man of the match and the man of the series award.
The 13-member J&K team has been sponsored by Kashyap Sports Club, under the supervision of its president, Rajesh Dhar.
