Jan Jagran Yatra | BJP laments govt for anti-people policies, asks CM to step down | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 7:Senior BJP leader and National Executive Member of the party Dr Nirmal Singh, alongwith former state president Daya Krishan Kotwal, charged the State government of shelving the power generation projects for which the BJP-led NDA government under Atal Behari Vajpayee had cleared eight Detailed Projects Reports. Addressing massive public meetings at Paneja, Sewa, Bhela and Panchai areas of Bhaderwah constituency under “Jan Jagran Yatra”, Dr Nirmal Singh said that it was NDA which had identified some works in erstwhile Doda district and taken deep interests in setting up of power projects. He said it was the state government which did not deem it necessary to follow up the process of power projects setting after Congress came to power at centre. He said it is not only power sector but there is immense potential of tourism in hilly areas of Bhaderwah, Doda and Kishtwar but the anti-Jammu mindset of successive Kashmiri-centric dispensations have been becoming obstacle in getting the tourists spots developed. Singh reiterated demand for an Act Parliament for permanent absorption of SPOs working in VDCs as they have been rendering splendid services in far flung and remote areas. Daya Krishan Kotwal, while addressing public in these meetings, said that still there are many areas in Doda, Kishtwar and Bhaderwah which do not have any roads, electricity, health facilities and schools. The government has schemes but on papers only. A number of centrally-sponsored schemes have been extended to the state, particularly for hilly and far flung areas but these are never implemented. Meanwhile, BJP’s “Jan Jagran Yatra”, launched from Hiranagar and Samba reached Kishanpur, where a massive public rally was addressed by BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, National Executive Member & MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria, State Vice-President Chander Prakash Ganga, State General Secretaries Satish Sharma, Sat Sharma and Usha Choudhary and other senior leaders accompanying these yatras. Shamsher Singh Manhas, in his address, said that in response to the clarion call of BJP against corruption, black money, price rise and several issues confronting Jammu and Kashmir, the people in large are turning up in rallies, which is an indicator that they all are fed up by the anti-people, anti-youth, anti-farmer and anti-poor policies of the government and endorse the demand of BJP that “CM should step down”. He said how much the Omar-led coalition government is against Jammu is clear from the fact that farmers of Jammu are forced to sell their crop harvest at lower rates to the middlemen in absence of procurement centres, which exist in all the other states. Ashok Khajuria, said that the problems in the Kandi areas are more complex as the farmers in particular have to depend on rains water for irrigational purposes. If there is less rain or floods, in both cases a farmer suffers. He said that the government should frame special policy for the kandi area farmers so that they are compensated in case of loss to their crops. In continuation of the Poonch-Rajouri leg of “Jan Jagran Yatra”, BJP National Executive Member & MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma, accompanied by State Secretaries Vibodh Gupta and Shilpi Verma addressed number of public rallies at Dangri, Tatapani, Kalakot, Mahtka, Taryath in Kalakot constituency
