Welcome Darbaries……to Jammu's 'changed' face!
Roads get swift facelifting, renovation works completed overnight

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 7: Jammu is being literally spruced up like a bride-all thanks to Darbaries for whom this massive exercise of 'facelifting' continuing with pace is meant to be. All the city roads which lay in shambles and in a complete dilapidated condition for months have turned smooth with blacktopping still going on a rapid spree. The renovation works which were left half by various departments like Municipality, PWD, PHE are suddenly on fast track. Everything is being done up in manner as if the preparations for any big event. A lay person wonders to see pleasant changes in Jammu's neglected face but anyone politically agile and aware feels this kind of change every year around this season of the year. All for the sake of Durbar Move and Darbaries indeed……! People are Jammu must remain grateful indeed.
Come October and Jammu begins to feel heat of this kind of rigorous exercise every year as high ups in various departments knock at their sub oridnates' chambers to wake up and gear up things for arrival of government and its entire machinery. The latter who more often than not remain in a state of complacency for months when Durbaar shifts to Srinagar receive this 'wake up ' call and follow it in spirit with some practical steps and measures which appear visible on the ground. This year too the 'big arrival' alert came calling , albeit a little early for more than one reason, which is why it is not being followed in a simple ritualistic manner but on a large scale and on expediting mood.
Of all the fronts where changes are being 'reinforced' in a massive way, the roads of Jammu almost in all key areas and markets, including those around the civil secretariat have turned even and plane enough to make the driving space a bit easy, if not enjoyable. Bumpy drives that would give jolts and jerks even in huge vehicles have suddenly turned smooth and polish with macadamization work apace on all roads of the city. Jewel market, Ambphalla and CPO area, Circular Road and adjacent Gujjar Nagar road, parts of BC road and many more wherefrom VIP movement is now expected after Durbaar starts its work, have been macdamised afresh and all those pot holes, ditches deep and shallow which witnessed many mishaps, no matter without casualties, received attention of authorities concerned during the past only one week, so much so that these look 'sleek and glossy' prompting one to take the route without second thought which used to be there until these lay in shambles.
One wonders how they could do it so swiftly and in a professional manner when the local people kept crying hoarse all these months. NBCC and PWD, which were expected to expedite the works when the roads turned slushy during rainy season remained unmoved until the 'alert' of Durbaar arrival sounded loud. Whether they worked in coordination or did this separately is not an issue now. For common man in Jammu who faced trouble and difficulties on many other fronts too in absence of Darbaries , it is great Relief…….!
