Autocrats in JKCA throw constitution to winds BABOO
11/8/2011 11:00:06 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 8: It is said that sanctity of every system or you may call it in every organisation, association or even institution is directly proportional to the preserving of its constitution. Or, in other words, running any organisation without following its constitution is simply to flog a dead horse rather to blow a death-knell to that organisation. Same is the case with the elitist cricketing body of the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), which runs its affairs unconstitutionally, rather throwing its constitution to winds, to leave the entire cricket community in the lurch, courtesy—a few in-genuine members, who are hell-bent upon to hijack the association, forcing them to run the system autocratically, which is spoiling and soiling the cause of the association and the name of the game.
But for hiring the high profile coach in Bishen Singh Bedi to train the state cricketers, one gets a feeling that JKCA has done almost everything wrong since March 2009 as this period has been dominated by the illegal members, who are reigning the kingdom and leaving no stone unturned in failing the efforts made with regard to setting in order the all important Working Committee and recognizing the genuine voters of the association.
The sorry state of affairs is that the illegal members, who are there just to fit the bill and enjoy patronage of their head to rule the roost, are warning genuine clubs for de-affiliation, forgetting about the fact that it might prove them adverse and they might be lost in the dirt of this cheap politics, as these were the clubs mainly responsible for framing the constitution of JKCA, way back in 1960. So, it seems to be a cruel joke on the part of these dictators.
It is pertinent to mention here that a big number of working committee members, including former General Secretary JKCA as also Joint Secretary, have vehemently challenged the very formation of the Working Committee for June 2011 JKCA elections and described its formation as illegal, unauthorized and not in accordance with rules and conventions and approval to the same by the President of the association as unauthorized and of no consequence.
“Conducting of such a Working Committee has been against rules and accepted norms and conventional procedures. The demand for setting in order the Working Committee was most illegally, unconventionally, undemocratically and not to talk of unconstitutionally was turned down by the then presiding officer,” said the annoyed Working Committee members while expressing their dissatisfaction over the functioning of JKCA.
Now, the question arises as to what had forced the then office bearers of JKCA to hold the elections hurriedly against the directions of the Hon’ble Court which had directed them to hold Working Committee Meeting rather than elections. Is it the unaccountability, the stardom or the abundant money which lures one towards JKCA? Or, it is something more serious—‘Racket rather than Cricket’! One gets a feeling that it is something serious.
Rather than concentrating on technical aspects of the game like selecting good teams and organizing more and more quality matches, the working committee members derive pleasure in leveling allegations and counter allegations against one another, to make it a custom. Nobody seems to be serious about producing good results and the height of things is that the members presently at the helm of affairs attribute wins to the affective functioning of the association and the loses to utter failure of the players. Good performances of the state teams presently playing outside the state are attributed to the likes of Bedi and are send to media agencies for publication while there is a trend to keep bad performances out of the reach of media fraternity to be in the limelight. Expecting good show from those who are hardly ready to accept failures is simply to cry for the moon. Individuals with vested interests are never ready to accept failures, because they do things with a sole motive of earning money and gaining name and fame. Lets’ hope noble sense prevails all around and the elitist association of the state be saved from further being drowned into the ocean of lust for money and power.
