Anguish against new recruitment policy | Despite Court stay, protests continue to rock Jammu | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 8:Despite Jammu and Kashmir High Court’s stay on the state government's decision to implement the new job policy of providing stipend to new non-gazetted recruits for the first five years, the protests against the rule continue to rock the winter capital of the state for the 8th consecutive day today. In protest against the new recruitment policy, Youth of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh (YJKL) organised a demonstration in front of University of Jammu. The protest demonstration was led by Vice-Chairman YJKL Prithvi Raj Singh Drora and Secretary Babar Ali. Activists of “YJKL.....A Movement” gathered in front of Jammu university main gate and raised slogans against the State Govt’s anti Youth policy which they termed as an attempt to spoil the future of young generation. They were raising slogans “Wapis karo Wapis karo recruitment Policy Wapis Karo, NC-Cong govt hai hai”. Protesters blocked the road for about 30 minutes while they were carrying the effigy of state govt. Minor scuffle was held between the protesters and police when police tried to snatch the effigy of the state government. While addressing the gathering Secretary Babar Ali said that this movement is not a joke as youth has been underestimated by the government and we will not allow the Government to spoil the career of youth by passing such policy. On the call of by YJKL youth are protesting on streets from last 10 days later joined by various social and student organisation group is providing strength to the ongoing agitation. In this address Prithvi Raj Singh Drora YJKL is committed to fight for the cause of youth of the state as it is very unfortunate no student organisation except one or two spoke on this issue, to favour this demand. Nirbhao Nirvair Organization (NNO) and Jan Jagriti Manch (JJM) organized a strong protest march against the new Recruitment policy. The demonstration was held at Press Club, Jammu while the protestors blocked Tawi Bridge for about half an hour. President of NNO Harjeet Singh said that we will not sit idle on this issue as it is the matter of the career of our kids and kins and such an order is totally unaccepted to us. President of Jan Jagriti Manch President Shri Parveen also high lighted and condemned this anti-people policy and stated that it is against the welfare of society as a whole. At Kathua, the Unemployed Educated Youth Association held the protest demonstration at Shaheedi Chowk against the new recruitment policy imposed by the state coalition government. The large number of the activists of the Association squarely condemned the recruitment rule which is nothing more than exploitation and harassment of the youth along with their parents whose number of desires and dreams are dependent on them. The vice-president of the Association Rajinder Pacifist, president of IDP president I.D Khajuria, president of Sarv Dharam Samiti Robin Sharma and Mahila Adhikar Sangthan president Santosh Khajuria, said this recruitment rule is anti-youth, anti-people and even a violation of the human rights and blunder with the common man of the state. On the occasion the association appealed to all the senior citizen, of the state come forward to get united to counter this so exploitative and dangerous draconian recruitment rule. Sky High India Social Organization has also criticised the state government for its new recruitment policy. He said that though this policy is stayed by the High Court but our organization favours its total revocation. Addressing a press conference here today Aman Kalsotra, Director Sky High India Social organization said that the current government is exploiting the youths in all manners. He said the State Govt. is only playing with the sentiments of the youth instead of providing positive opportunities for their betterment. Meanwhile, National Secular Forum (NSF) has called for complete bandh in all Jammu Colleges and schools tomorrow in protest against the new recruitment policy.. While welcoming the High Court’s staying the new recruitment policy, the NSF hoped that a final verdict will be made in public’s favour. In a press conference District Chairman, Surjit Choudhary said that before the Court gives its final verdict; the government must withdraw this policy in the larger interest of the youth of the State. Surjit Choudhary said that forum shall also boycotts the all colleges and schools classes in Jammu province to welcome the opening of Secretariat in Winter Capital on tomorrow. Terming the youth as the ingredients of economic wealth and over all development, the NSF leader said that the educated youth of the state are left with only hope of source of revenue in government jobs, because the private sector in the state assures restricted jobs and those too mainly to the technocrats and professionals. Educated youth and student community were logically and really taking to the streets to communicate their increasing resentment against the new recruitment policy. Government should also discontinue from its ineffectual and anti-people policies and concentrate on resource mobilization and better development of human capital as an alternative of depending on large scale central funding. He appealed unemployed youth to struggle against the government and defeat the anti-youth policy.
