Sham asks teachers to provide value based education

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 08 - Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture Mr. Sham Lal Sharma has sought people’s support to eradicate corruption and other social evils from the society. He cautioned the people to be more vigilant and take a fresh pledge to root out this evil which is degrading the vital components of the society.
Speaking at an impressive function organized by Maharaja Hari Singh DAV Public School, Akhnoor, near here today to commemorate the birth anniversary of iron man of India, Sardar Patel, the Minister said that the corruption is a big challenge before the country and efforts are being made at different levels to fight it. He said need of the hour is to involve all sections of the society to work together to get rid of this menace. He called for launching a strong movement against the social evils which are the development of the country.
Emphasizing the need for providing value based and quality education to the students, the Minister asked the teachers to prepare the students in such a way that after completing their studies they could hindering lead a dignified life and contribute for the development of the nation. Students should be made aware about the social evils, their duties towards the societies, besides education. Parents have also great responsibility towards their wards and they should inculcate in them a sense of responsibility and educate them about the rich cultural and ethos of India, he asserted.
Responding to the demand of the school management, the Minister promised to provide a water cooler to the students from his own pocket money within a fortnight. Regarding other demands, he assured to examine for appropriate action.
He also distributed prizes amongst the students who excelled in different activities.
Later, the Minister also addressed a largely attended public meeting at Akhnoor and highlighted the programmes and policies of the government. He dwelt on the achievements made by the government during the past three years in different sectors. He said that coalition government has been giving focused attention to provide better facilities to the people, especially in the rural and far-flung areas and massive development has been registered in all sectors in Akhnoor town.
He asked the people to maintain close coordination with the officers to ensure better results and development of their areas. He also directed the officers to attend people’s problems on priority and achieve the targets within the time frame.
