CITU nation-wide protest against new recruitment policy
Tarigami among several CPI (M) activists court arrest

JAMMU, Nov 8; Over 50 CPI (M) activists led by its state secretary and MLA Kulgam Mohammed Yousf Taragami court arrested at Indira Chowk here today on the call of country wide massive jail Baro Andolan and protest call of which was given by centre of Indian trade unions (CITU) and National Federations in protest the anti youth and new recruitment policy of J&K Government.
The protestors were taken into a police bus and taken to District Polcie Line Gandhi Nagar. They were released in the evening.
Addressing the demonstrators Mr Tarigami lashed out at J&K Governemnt led by omar Abdullah for its its youth policies and he termed the recent recruitment policy a great infringement on democratic rights of the people.
Tarigami said state is facing turmoil for last 22 years and its main cause was the unrest among the youth. But its of channelizing the youth in a proper way to utilize their energy for nation building the Government through its wrong and anti youth policies was forcing them to agitate.
Terming the new recruitment policy a draconian order he said this is nothing but the exploitation of the talent of the youth and the working class will never allow it to happen. He said the present government is under a scanner as corruption is on peak and those at helm of affairs are busy in amassing the wealth at the cost of the common man.
Tarigami said the rampant corruption prevailing in the state if not checked with punitive action will play a havoc. He also demanded immediate withdrawal of new recruitment policy decision and warned that in case Government failed to do the same entire working class would be on the streets.
He also expressed grave concern over the hike in the prices of LPG and petroleum products that have direct effect on consumers and demanded immediate roll back of petroleum prices. He also urged the Central and state governments with strict enforcement of all labour laws for the betterment of working class.
Om Parkash general secretary CITU demanded amendment in Minimum Wages Act to ensure universal coverage irrespective of schedule and fixation of statutory minimum wages at no less than with no less than Rs 10,000 per month with index price and removal of all ceiling on payment and illegibility of bonus.
Sham Kesar regional secretary CPI (M) Jammu stressed for assured pension for all workers while Pawan Gupta and Ramesh Chand Divisional secretary and joint secretary LIC Northern Zone criticized the disinvestment of profit making PSUs.
Earlier the CITU and CPI (M) activists took out a procession from Bikram Chowk and after passing through various markets it culminated at Indira Chowk with court arrest.
