Demand for Governor's rule gaining ground in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 9: Anger and street protests by the unemployed youth in Jammu over the new recruitment policy have added to the already fluid political and security scenario in the troubled state. The state had been rattled by voices favouring lifting of the AFSPA and by those opposing any tampering with the Act. The demand for change of guard and the growing conflict between the Congress and the National Conference had already vitiated political atmosphere in the state. Hence the new recruitment policy is said to have added fuel to fire. Apart from the opposition leaders belonging to the PDP, Panthers Party and the BJP even several leaders in the state unit of the Congress hold the National Conference leadership responsible for the political mess and administrative collapse in Jammu and Kashmir. The opposition leaders said that because of growing conflict between the Congress and the NC the pace of development works has suffered. What seems to enhance the level of political uncertainty is lack of coordination between the Congress and the NC? In addition to both the Congress and the NC that share power, have failed to respect coalition dharma. Besides the PDP leaders even a couple of MLAs belonging to the Panthers Party have praised the spirit of coalition that functioned during the PDP-Congress rule between 2002 and 2005. A senior PDP leader said that several important decisions were take n during this period which had positive bearing on people of the state. He said since the state had been gripped by major political crisis the only alternative for saving people from the negative impact of the fluid political situation was to place the state under the Governor's rule. Senior Panthers Party leaders too support this demand on the plea that this was the only proper course for resolving the problem of unemployment, electricity crisis and other difficulties of people
