Stolen resin recovered from Pathankote | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 09: Resin worth Rs 5 lakh, which had been stolen from a forest compartment at Batal Balian in Udhampur and smuggled outside the state, was today recovered by police from Narote Jaimal Singh in Bomial area of Pathankote. The resin, which had been extracted by forest department officials and packed in 420 tins, was stolen from a compartment at Batal Balian, police sources said. During the course of investigation, police came to know that the consignment had been smuggled outside the state in a truck (JK14/9647). Further probe led police to a trader at Narote Jaimal Singh to whom the consignment had been sold. The man, who was alleged to have stolen and smuggled the consignment, was also arrested. He was identified as Govind Ram, son of Krishan Lal of Paldai, Majalta. The truck and the resin tins were also seized and brought back to Udhampur. A case under section 379 of RPC and section 6 of J&K Forest Act was registered against the accused at Udhampur police station. Police were trying to find out the possible connivance of some more persons in the resin theft and smuggling.
