Day 5: Rescue operation continues at Doda accident site | DC orders verification of sub standard material used by GREF | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar Nov 9: The rescue operation by team of 9 Para Udhampur along with local divers fails to recover bodies of the victims of the mini bus tragedy, while district administration is verifying the allegations about the use of sub standard material by the GREF authorities. The rescue cum search operation were hindered due to the strong currents in river Chenab though the Navy divers have been pressed into service on Sunday morning only managed to recover three more bodies on Wednesday. The identity of the bodies fished out today have been ascertained namely as Hawa Singh Son of Hari Nath Singh resident of Gutam Budh Nagar, Aziz-ul-Rehman Son of Safdar Ali Resident lakinpura Kehrie UP and Rafayat Ali Son of Ilam Din Resident of Bhunzwah Kishtwar. “Till date divers have fished out 9 bodies in total three were recovered on very first day while two on the Monday and one Tuesday and three today on Wednesday, an official said further adding, ‘as many as a dozen yet are missing.” Deputy Divisional Commissioner (DDC)) Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan said that as the rescue operation team is schedule to close its operation today, but on his request the formal calling off of ongoing search operation was extended by a day. Khan said that every effort is being made to trace out the missing persons. He said that in addition to the inquiry initiated by Transport Commissioner, District Administration have also decided to verify the material used by GREF authorities for construction of crash barrier. He said that the formal order of an inquiry into the verification of material used by the GREF in construction of crash barriers will be issued tomorrow.
