Fighting financial crunch- French style | Unlike JK ministers Fillon freezes his salary | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 9: Even as the Legislators and ministers raised their salaries from 40,000 to 90,000 in this neglected land, the Prime Minister and his ministerial colleagues in France froze their salaries to eliminate country's deficit by 2016. Prime Minister Francois Fillon said on Monday that the salaries of French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his ministers would be frozen as part of austerity measures, calling on business leaders to do the same. "I call on everyone to show great responsibility," Fillon said, calling pay rises for some bosses "frankly indecent". I call on political leaders and heads of big companies, particularly businesses in the CAC 40, to do exactly the same thing," Fillon said, referring to the Paris stock exchange's blue chip share index. Surprisingly the salaries of Jammu Kashmir legislators and Ministers were raised at a time when the employees were on strike pressing for release of 6th Pay Commission Arears. The government said it had no money to pay the arrears right now. The employees were told that the same shall be deposited in their GP Fund accounts. As if this was not enough to cause inconvenience to the entire population of the state that the government decided to reduce salaries of Class 3rd and 4th employees (joining government service after Nov 1st, 2011) by 60% to 75% on the occasion of Diwali and Eid-ul-Azha. |
