| Harshdev to introduce private members bill debarring political leaders with more | | | Jammu, January 7 Former Education Minister and leader of the Panthers party
in the state assembly Harshdev Singh is all set to create ripples in the political
circles by introducing, for the first time, a unique private members bill in the budget session debarring
political leaders with more than two children to contest Assembly elections in the
state. Keeping in view alarming increase in rate of population growth I have decided to
introduce a private members bill in the upcoming budget session of the state
assembly making it mandatory that political leaders with more than two children
should be debarred from contesting elections in the state, HarshDev Singh said here
on Sunday. As leader of the masses it is our prime duty to lead by example and create mass
awareness among people. Keeping this in mind I have decided to introduce the
bill,Singh said saying that explosion of population is creating problems for planners
to provide facilities to all. In case, the private members bill is adopted by the state assembly it will create
trouble for many senior leaders cutting across party lines as they have more than
two children. Interestingly, several senior legislators along with few young MLA's with more than
two children are unlikely to extend their support to the bill,a senior legislator said
admitting that the fate of the bill will be seized soon after it will come for discussion
in teh absence ofsupport from all quarters. (KIP)
