JKNPP smells rat, BJP in no mood to annoy NC | Selection of clerks, banking associates in J&K Bank | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 10: Maintaining criminal silence over the issue of alleged nepotism and favoritism in the selection of about 1600 clerks and banking associates by J&K Bank, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be in no mood to annoy National Conference (NC) led coalition government. None of their leaders have bothered to issue even a mild statement against the selection of 1600 clerks and banking associates by J&K Bank in complete violation of the established norms of selection. They have seemingly decided not to represent voice of Jammu and instead, concentrate on issues which are of no significance to the commoners. They have issued not even a single statement against the alleged biased selection of candidates in J&K Bank. Instead of BJP, the party that has taken lead in pointing towards the discriminatory policies of J&K Bank is Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP). They have demanded an enquiry into the recent selection of about 1600 clerks and banking associates by J&K Bank. They have said that this selection has evoked large scale criticism and skepticism in Jammu region and large scale allegations have been leveled against the J&K Bank for having played fraud with the selection process and for manipulating the same to the advantage of the blue-eyed. They have said that around 400 candidates out of 1600 selected candidates belong to Jammu region as against 1200 candidates from Kashmir region. Taking a dig on the functioning of J&K Bank, they have said that J&K Bank authorities must explain as to why the final selection list has not been made public. JKNPP has said that concealing of the final selection list and issuing individual call letters to the selected candidates was sufficient to support the claims and contentions of the aggrieved Jammu youth that the selection process was not fair. Seeking the publication of the merit list and detailed particulars of the selected candidates, the party has boldly said that it was essential to clear doubts and apprehensions in the minds of Jammu people. The party has further said that transparency and fair play demanded that the J&K Bank cannot subvert selection process or act arbitrarily as it was functioning under the over-all control of the finance department of J&K government. Earlier also the J&K Bank had made the selections of several candidates against the Class IV vacancies without inviting applications and without following the due procedure of law, the party has alleged while adding that Supreme Court has very categorically ruled that no appointments can be made without public notifications and without giving due opportunity to all eligible candidates. The selections having been made on extraneous considerations do not satisfy the test of law and need to be probed along with the selection of Banking Associates held recently, added the party leader. He further lambasted the J&K Bank for issuing the circular directing all its branches to disallow all applications received under Right to Information Act. Such a retrograde step was highly condemnable besides indicating malevolent and fraudulent intentions on the part of the Bank, allege JKNPP leaders. They have called upon the government to order a thorough probe into the whole gamut of selections as well as the working of the J&K Bank and bring forth factual position to the notice of general public. |
