No respite from cold. Gulmarg coldest at -2-.3 deg in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Nov 11 : The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg was coldest in Kashmir valley, where upper reaches experienced fresh snowfall while plains recorded rains. The upper reaches in the Kashmir valley experienced fresh snowfall early this morning while plains had rains during the night.
A weather office spokesman said Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, which attracts tourists from different parts of the country besides abroad, was the coldest after the minimum temperature dipped to miners 2.3 degrees Celsius this morning, less than a notch recorded yesterday when it was minus 1.8 degrees. Affarwat, Seven springs and Khilanmarg and other heights in Gulmarg sector also received fresh snowfall during the past 24 hours. Spokesman said there is possibility of more snowfall on upper reaches in the valley during the next 24 hours. Villages near the Line of Control (LoC) also received fresh snowfall while plains, including Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla recorded rains. The summer capital, Srinagar, recorded 8.2 mm rainfall till 0800 hrs. The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.5 degrees, about six degree above normal. The Spokesman the maximum temperature will be around 7 degrees, seven degree below normal today.
