Divisional Level Inter-District U-19 Boys Cricket Tournament Jatin guides Jammu to 7-wkt win over Reasi

JAMMU, Nov 11: A superb knock of 73 runs by right-handed batsman Jatin Vadhavan helped Jammu district to script a convincing 7-wkt win over district Reasi to advance in the ongoing Divisional Level Inter-District Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as annual calendar of activities at Jammu University Grounds, here.
Earlier, batting first, Reasi managed to score 112 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Mohan Singh remained top scorer with 47 runs. For Jammu district, Shiva Sharma and Paras Sharma took 2 wickets each, spending 9 and 19 runs respectively.
In reply, Jammu district chased the target easily in 16.4 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Jatin sent the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt, hitting some lusty blows in his brisk knock of 73 runs including five sweetly timed fours and four huge sixes. He was well supported by Gurdeep Singh, who contributed well made 16 runs in 38 balls.
In another match, Rajouri defeated Kishtwar narrowly by 2 wickets in a well fought contest, sparing just two balls.
Batting first, Kishtwar scored a formidable total of 139 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Iqbal Bhat scored a valuable 33 runs. Sumit was the wrecker-in-chief for Rajouri, scalping 4 important wickets in his quota of four overs.
Rajouri chased the target in 19.4 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Anil and Tariq contributed 31 and 30 runs for Rajouri respectively. Shah Nawaz Ahmed was pick of the bowlers for Kishtwar, claiming 3 wickets.
The tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of SS Bali, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports.
The matches were officiated by Satpal Singh, Madan Mohan, Sanjay Raina, Mukesh, Madan Mohan and Jagtar Singh.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Rajesh Dhar, BK Tickoo and Sadiq Hussain Malik.
