Indian wrestlers shine in Canada | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 11: The Indian Free Style and Female Wrestling teams bagged 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal in the 2011 Hargobind Singh International Wrestling Tournament held at Surrey, Vancouver in Canada recently. As per the reports reaching here, the gold medals were bagged by Vinod Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Narsingh Yadav and Babita Kumari in 55 kg, 60 kg, 84 kg and 48 kg categories respectively, while Pradeep Kumar clinched silver medal in 66 kg and Rahul Mann bronze in the same weight category. Meanwhile, President, Wrestling Federation of India, Dushyant Sharma while expressing satisfaction over the performance said that the competition was very tough and most of the top wrestling nations participated in this Tournament, adding that this exposure was very useful for the Indian wrestlers for preparation of the 2012 London Olympic Games. He further said the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India and Sports Authority of India are giving full co-operation for preparation of the Indian wrestling teams for the forthcoming 2012 London Olympic Games. It is pertinent to mention here that Dushyant Sharma of J&K has created history by being the first sportsperson from J&K elected as president of any Sports Federation earlier this year, so any good performance by the Indian wrestlers at the highest level adds feather to his cap.
