Yasir’s splendid fifty goes in vain as Simula enters DPL T20 final | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 11: A splendid knock of 74 runs by Yasir of Ishar XI went in vain as Simula XI rode on an equally superb knock of 50 runs by Anshuman Sharma to script a narrow win in a high scoring match to qualify for the finals of the Diwali Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament at MA Stadium, here today. Earlier, batting first, Ishar XI openers—Atul Sharma and Yasir sent the Simula bowlers on a leather-hunt and made a quick-fire opening partnership of 96 runs in just 11 overs. Yasir contributed 74 runs including seven fours and three sixes, while Atul scored well made 38 runs. Arshad was the other batsman to chip in with 21 runs to help his team to reach a decent total of 162 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. For Simula XI, Vikram took 2 wickets. In reply, Simula XI, powered by a fabulous half-century by Anshuman Sharma reached the target in 19.3 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Irshad and Dhruv Mahajan were the other contributors with the bat, scoring 27 and 16 runs respectively. Anshuman of Simula XI was adjudged man of the match for his splendid knock. The match was officiated by Sudhir Singh and Shashi Pal as umpires, while Yogesh Sharma was the scorer. The tournament is being organised by Simula Sports Club under the supervision of Hilal Rather, Rajesh Gill and Rajesh Dhar.
