Police Martyrs Memorial Volley Ball tourney gets underway | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Udhampur Nov 11: DIG Udhampur - Resai range Jagjit Kumar inaugurated 2nd Police Martyrs Memorial State Level Volley Ball tournament here today. Paying rich tributes to the martyrs he said that martyrs sacrificed themselves for the integrity, sovereignty and maintaining the brotherhood of the nation irrespective to caste or religion. While formally declaring the tournament start, DIG Jagjit Kumar who was chief guest on the occasion said, "No one will ever forget the supreme sacrifices made by the valiant jawans and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police for restoration of peace and normalcy in the State. DIG Udhampur-Resai maintained that holding of this tournament was a step forward to remember the supreme sacrifices of our brave police martyrs and to encourage the sports culture for healthy society. He further hoped that tournament would go a long way in attracting the youth towards games and also prove a step forward to strengthen the police- public relation in a big way. Among prominent who were present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Baseer Ahmed Khan, SSP Udhampur, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, SSP, Reasi, K. R. Chourisa, , President and Vice President Volley Ball Association, Udhampur,. Raj Guru, Roshan Gupta, Secretary, Bhushan Sethi, veteran players, prominent citizens including Rama Nand Baria, Vikram Slathia and number of sports lovers were present on the occasion. In the inaugural match taking straight lead of sets, the 71 Sub Area Volley Ball team defeated CRPF Volley Ball Team Udhampur by 25-18 and 25-17 at an inaugural match |
