| Kishtwar receives season's first snowfall | | | JAMMU: Kishtwar district in the region received its first snowfall of the season in the upper Chintan Top area of Warwan, signalling the arrival of winter.
Snowfall was reported overnight at Chintan Top and some other higher reaches of Kishtwar, official sources said.
There was 1.5 to 2 ft of snowfall at Chintan Top , which has a road connectivity with Anantnag, Kashmir, the sources added.
The road was blocked temporarily as the snow accumulated on it. It was later cleared by officials. The night temperature in the area plunged below zero degree.
Chintan Top, Warwan and some other nearby areas in Kishtwar witness an extremely harsh four month winter season beginning November when the minimum temperature there mostly remains below the freezing point.
The high hills of Kailash and Chatargali were also reported to have experienced snowfall. |
