| CBI presents challan against GE Air Force Station Awantipora | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov12: CBI/ACB Srinagar today presented challan in the Special Court of CBI for J&K against a Garrison Engineer (GE) of Air Force Station Awantipora Kashmir who was caught red-handed by the a team of CBI/ACB while accepting Rs 40,000 as bribe from a contractor.
According to the case on March 9, 2011 one Muzaffar Ahmed Khan lodged a written complaint with CBI Srinagar with the allegations that P K Srivastava Garrison Engineer was demanded bribe of Rs 80,000 from the complainant for passing his bills as well as for already released payments of bills.
Following the complaint CBI/ACB Srinagar registered a case and constituted a trap team on March 10, 2011, the trap team laid a trap in the office of said officer and caught holds him red-handed and recovered the bribe amount from his possession. Case file also stated that during the search of the office of the accused in presence of the witnesses a cash of Rs 7 lacs was recovered from the locker/cash chest kept in the same room of the accused. The keys of which was provided by the Mohd Akbar Lone peon of accused PK Srivastava, both accused PK Srivastava and Mohd Akbar Lone peon were quizzed on spot about the source of Rs 7 lacs while PK Srivastava showed no knowledge about amount however Mohd Akbar Lone disclosed that this amount was kept by him in the safe which was given to him by some contractor for safe custody which was in his custody. A separate case was registered for recovery of 7 lacs. Accused Srivastva was arrested on March 10, 2011 and was released by the Court on bail on March 16, 2011 and was put under suspension. Today after completion of the investigation challan was presented in Special Court meant for CBI Cases for J&K. (JNF)
