| Legal Metrology conducts extensive checking | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, NOVEMBER 12- In continuation if drive to protect consumer interest and safeguard the rights of the consumer, a team of Legal Metrology department Kathua led by Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology Kathua on the direction of the Development Commissioner, Kathua conducted extensive checking at Dyalachack, Hiranagar Chadwal, Main Market Kathua, Industrial Estate, Lakhanpur, Tehsil Billawar and their adjoining areas.
During the inspection on the Eve of Diwali , 450 establishment dealing with different traders like as flour mills, Halwi, Karyana, Vegetables shops general store, confectionery shop, gift pack, Dry fruit, wine shop, Liquor Bar were checked and 68 defaulters were booked and compounded on spot as well as in the office and an amount of Rs. 52400 were recovered as fine/composition money from the defaulters and also collected revenue as well as verification re-verification fees from the traders for the month of October,2011 an amount of Rs.54,371.
The department has appealed to the consumer to purchase only those standard package on which net weight, MRO, date of packing and complete address of the packers/manufacturers are mentioned.
