Semis lineup drawn in Inter-District U-19 cricket

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 12: With the entry of the districts of Udhampur and Poonch in the last four stage, the semifinals position has been cleared in the ongoing Divisional Level Inter-District Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at University of Jammu grounds, here today. The districts of Jammu and Rajouri have already made it to the semifinals stage.
In the first match played today, Udhampur outplayed Kathua by 22 runs to book a place in the semifinals.
Earlier, batting first, Udhampur scored a decent total of 156/6 in the stipulated 20 overs. Sanjeet was the top scorer with 49 runs, while Himanshu contributed 22 runs to the total.
For Kathua, Sandeep was the most successful bowler to take two wickets.
Kathua, in reply, was bundled-out for 137 runs in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by 22 runs. Rajesh and Amit contributed 20 and 16 runs to the total respectively.
In another match played today, Poonch defeated Doda by 27 runs in an easy contest.
Poonch, while batting first, scored 128 for 7 in 20 overs, with Nisar Khan and Nawaz Rather contributing 34 and 32 runs to the total respectively. Jabran Bhat picked 2 wickets for Doda.
Doda while chasing collapsed for a paltry total of 101 runs in19.3 overs, thus lost the match by 27 runs. Adil Hussain and Kuldeep contributed 24 and 19 runs to the total respectively. For Poonch, Nawaz Rather was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets, while Aquib Kirmani was another successful bowler to take 2 wickets.
Today’s matches were officiated by Satpal Singh, Mukesh Sharma, Madan Mohan, BK Tickoo, Sadiq Hussain and Pankaj Sasan.
The tournament is being held under the supervision of SS Bali, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were ZPEO’s, Jeet Singh and Sarita Pandha.
