Shiv Nath Tiwari Memorial T20 Cricket Tourney J&K loses to UP in semis
11/12/2011 10:59:21 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 12: Failing to hold their nerves in the all important semifinal match of the All India Shiv Nath Tiwari Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, the members of the Kashyap Sports Club sponsored J&K team were tamed easily by their rivals to lose the match by 5 wickets, thus helping hosts Ballia District Cricket Association representing Uttar Pradesh, to qualify for the finals of this prestigious tournament at Sports Stadium, Ballia yesterday night.
Batting first, J&K scored 123 for all in 19.3 overs. Satish, Rahul Mussa and Amit Sharma contributed 44, 26 and 29 runs to the total respectively. Rahul Mussa in particular was severe on the bowlers and played a brisk knock of 26 runs in just 17 balls, hitting three crispy boundaries and a six in this knock.
Uttar Pradesh, in reply, rode on a splendid knock of 64 runs by Anupam Singh including 4 sixes and five fours, chased the target in just 16 overs. J&K bowlers were out of sorts from the word go as Anupam butchered them like anything. None of the bowlers was so impressive from J&K, however Kuldip, Rohit Sharma, Satish and Vishal took one wicket apiece.
It may be recalled that the 13-member J&K team, which drubbed formidable Delhi and low profile Orissa before reaching the semifinals, was sponsored by Kashyap Sports Club and the team was picked by its president, Rajesh Dhar.
The Team: Kuldip (Captain), Nitin Mehra, Rahul Chaudhary, Rahul Mussa, Rohit Sharma, Amit Sharma, Vishal Singh Bhau, Satish, Puneet Kumar, Gurjinder Singh, Ujjwal and Devender Kumar.
