JSM opposes withdrawal of AFSPA
11/12/2011 11:36:29 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 12:Jammu State Morcha has opposed the partial withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from some areas of the State.
In a meeting of Jammu State Morcha, held under the Chairmanship of its President, Prof Virender Gupta, the members discussed at length the various aspects of AFSPA as well as pros and cons of its partial withdrawal as advocated by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
The members opposed tooth and nail the proposal of the Chief Minister and also condemned his statement that “No to repealing AFSPA” was not an option acceptable to him.
They blamed him for furthering the agenda of ISI and separatists and acting against the national interests. The ‘AAM ADMI’ of the State is indifferent to the issue of AFPSA raised repeatedly by the Chief Minister and other Kashmiri leaders.
The boggy of AFPSA is being raised to appease the separatists and terrorists and also to divert the attention of the people from the mismanagement of state affairs by the Govt.
The present Govt. has completely failed on all fronts and the common masses from all the regions of the state are disillusioned. The Chief Minister looks to be frustrated and raises one after the other controversial issues to regain the political space that he is loosing day by day bby his actions and inactions.
Thus, to mislead the Public and in order to exploit the emotions of a few the CM has time and again tried to raise the issue of AFSPA.
The recent statement of Gen Parnaik, the head of counter insurgency operations in the State, highlighting the requirement of the act to enable the army to carry out counter insurgency operations was also discussed. The members felt that partial withdrawal from certain areas of Jammu province will be detrimental to the prevailing peace in the area and were not in its favour.
