Shifting loyalties: Student leader who opposed 'New Job policy' joins NC
11/12/2011 11:55:05 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov12: In a unique case of shifting loyalties a student leader and President of the Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association (JURSEA) Rakesh Chib who was opposing 'New Job Policy' formally joined National Conference but was immediately appointed President of the J&K National Conference Students Union (NCSU). Compulsions known better to the two sides but students' organizations are little bothered about this political deal of luring cadres.
The joining and formal appointment was made only a few days after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while addressing a gathering of party workers at the Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan had expressed serious concern over the absence of the National Conference Students Union in the educational institutions particularly when others students organizations are targeting the state government on the one or the other issue. Omar had told the party workers that where ever he visits always hears about ABVP and Panthers Party Students Union but where is NC Students Union (NCSU). Omar had also directed the provincial president to make the students' wing of the party effective and functional.
Ironically, only few days ago Rakesh Chib was seen criticizing the new recruitment policy announced by the government freshly and what made him to join the NCSU reasons better known to him.
But if the parent party remembers his ire which was directed at the state government while addressing a press conference he had stated that the 'new recruitment policy' declared by the State Government reflects the insensitivity and lack of considerate of the labour laws and employment procedure. He even has urged upon all MLAs irrespective of the political affiliations to be support voices against new employment policy, so as to put off the miscarriage of justice and protect the interests of educated unemployed youth, but if it was the compulsion of NC to get its student wing functional or some other it accommodated the same person with a good rank in the party student's wing.
Provincial President J&K National Conference, Jammu province Rattan Lal Gupta boastfully told reporters JURSEA President Rakesh Chib joined National Conference (NC) as the President of the J&K National Conference Students Union, (NCSU) Jammu province, along with his supporters. He also told reporters Chib has been appointed as its President and Yasir Khan as its Provincial Secretary. Meanwhile Rahul Sharma the Provincial President of the NCSU has been taken into the Youth body as the Vice President of J&K Youth National Conference, Jammu province, he said.
Belittled Chib briefly said he joined NC after due deliberations with his colleagues who "found new hope under the leadership of young Chief Minister whose government is working to create opportunities of employment in the state".
