The risk factors known for diabetes are age, family history, obsety, physical inactivity and unhealthy eating habits. As per the ICMR- INDIAB study, urbanization and higher income status also have a role to play.' It is therefore imperative for a diabetic to adhere to prescribed medications and maintain his normal body weight by taking up regular physical activity and healthy diet.
