Both Soz and Omar urged not to go aggressive but try to mend fences | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 13: Leaders of the state unit of the Congress have been told in clear terms to avoid triggering a political conflict by berating the National Conference for whatever political and economic ailments Jammu and Kashmir was suffering from. According to Congress sources the party high command also asked Dr Farooq Abdullah to initiate action against Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal who has been airing views which violate the coalition dharma and caused irritation to the Army functionaries. Reports said that Farooq Abdullah acted within minutes of the receipt of the instructions from the Congress high command and removed Mustafa from the post of additional general secretary and Chief spokesman.Farooq is said to have implemented the direction from the Congress high command hastily to ensure that he did not lose his cabinet post. Reports revealed that the Congress high command is unhappy with both Chief Minister,Omar Abdullah and the PCC Chief,Saif-ud-Din Soz. “It is not happy with the way Omar has been airing his views on AFSPA revocation. It has asked Soz to avoid raising any controversy which could weaken the current political arrangement in the state, sources said. It is in the context of the suggestions given to Omar and Soz that the members of the Coordination Committee are likely to evolve a framework for strengthening the ruling coalition. Even while favouring continuance of the present political arrangement the Congress high command is not averse to experimenting with some new idea if the NC leadership adopted postures that could be unpalatable for the Congress. Meanwhile party sources further said that the latest instructions to the congress leaders have come from the party high command soon after PCC Chief, Saif-ud-Din Soz voiced his views on AFSPA and on rotational chief Ministership and on the possibility of a tie-up with the PDP.
