EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 13: “Mughalon Ne Saltanat Baksh Di” a play in Hindi written by Bhagwati Charan Verma and adapted by Rajesh Kumar Singh was featured at Natrang’s Sunday Theatre Series today at Natrang Studio theatre, Kachi Chawni.
The play was very ably directed by Dhanesh Dogra.
The plot of the play was based on the social theme of our addiction to the foreign made brands and their usage in Indian. Almost every product used in Indian home today is a foreign made brand. We Indians are so much adapted to the foreign names and brands that we have adapted a new life style.
We in India have all infrastructure to make all the products but still are used to the foreign names and brands. This thoughtless herd instinct has made India the largest consumer market of the world, but ironically, to the benefit of the multi national companies only. The play makes us think about the changing priorities and also talks about somehow declining spirit of Nationality.
All the characters were played by one actor, who was versatile enough to provide a wonderful theatrical experience to the audience. Such solo plays are a challenge for the actors but prove very impressive if handled properly.
Lucky Gupta proved his metal by playing nearly nine different characters at one time with clean distinctions. The lights were operated by Sushil Raina. Dhanesh Dogra rendered music, sets and costumes were designed by Happy Gupta. Sumeet Sharma coordinated the show and the presentations were done by Vikram Sharma.
