Providing improved basic amenities to people priority of Govt: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 13: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said that Government is making all out efforts to develop every corner of the state on modern lines by providing all basic amenities to the people adding that there is no constraint of funds under development sectors. The Minister said this while addressing a large gathering at Bahu Fort after inaugurating public place by fixing paver tiles in the premises Mahatma Atma Ram Sidh ji Sabha opposite Saryara Birdhari community hall, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 27 lakh by JMC. The Minister said the place would be utilized in general for arranging social as well as religious functions there on nominal charges. He said Government has already dedicated Rs. 2.25 crore multipurpose community halls to people of Bazigar basti, Rabi Dass Basti and Qasim Nagar of Bahu Fort area. For improving power scenario in Bahu Fort and its adjoining areas, Bhalla said the Government has earmarked Rs. 3.26 crore for construction for 10 MVA 33/11 KVA Receiving Station adding that the project is stipulated to be completed in December, 2011. The Minister said keeping in view tourism potential in the area, way side infrastructural facilities like view points, landscaping, artificial lake, aquarium, balidhan stumb and other public utilities have been upgraded for visiting tourists and pilgrims. Bhalla said that to promote co-curricular activities in the Bahu Fort area, the Government has already taken up development of play field at a cost of Rs. 75 lakh near Government Higher Secondary School. The Minister said that for socio-economic upliftment of poor homeless state subjects of the area, the Government has already provided Rs. 50 lakh to such families for construction of their dwelling units under Basic Services to Urban poor scheme. He called upon the other left over families to approach JMC for seeking benefits under this scheme. Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs. 1.45 crore for upgrading of lanes and drains of the all the basties besides construction of cremation ground at Gorkha Nagar, Bahu Fort adding the works on projects are apace would be completed within stipulated time frame. On the occasion, the Chairman of Saryara Birdhari nominated Mangat Ram of Bahu Fort as Senior Vice President of the Birdhari At Sector 2, 3 and 4 of Trikuta Nagar, the road widening including mecademisation was started in the presence of the Minister, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 23 lakh. The work for upgradation of surface drain in sector-2 of the locality was also started at a cost of Rs. 10. He directed the executing agency to complete these works within one month for the convenience of the masses. At Dilli in Sainik Colony, the Minister laid foundation for construction of toilet complex and upgradation of lanes and drains, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 9 lakh. Responding to the demand of the locals, Bhalla announced 50 street lights would be installed in the area.
