Divisional Level Inter-District U-19 Cricket Tourney Jammu faces Udhampur in title-clash

JAMMU, Nov 13: The district of Jammu and Udhampur registered emphatic wins over their rivals in the semifinals to meet each other in the final of the Divisional Level Inter-District U-19 Years Boys Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Jammu University grounds, here.
In the first semifinal played today, Udhampur outplayed Rajouri by 18 runs in low scoring match.
Earlier, batting first Udhampur managed to score 107 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sohan Singh remained the main contributor with 18 runs. Sumit was the pick of the bowlers for Rajouri, taking 4 important wickets.
Rajouri, in reply, bundled-out for a paltry total of 89 runs in 17.2 overs. Anil remained top scorer with 43 runs. Sanjeet was wrecker-in-chief from Rajouri to take 4 wickets , while Sajad scalped three wickets.
In another semifinal match, hosts Jammu district drubbed Poonch easily by 7 wickets in a one-sided contest.
Winning the toss and batting first, Poonch got collapsed for a meagre total of 95 runs, despite Nawaz Rather’s well made 41 runs. Jammu District Bowling trio of Somya Jain, Rajan Mehra and Gurdeep Singh bowled with nagging line and length and bagged 2 wickets apiece.
Jammu district, in reply chased the target easily in 17 overs by losing three wickets in the process, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Promising batsman Paras Sharma was the top scorer with unbeaten knock of 39 runs, while Abhinav Puri contributed 28 runs to the total. For Poonch, Idnan Fazli took all the three wickets to fell.
The matches are being officiated by Ashok Dass, Sanjay Raina, Jagtar Singh, Satpal Singh, Madan Mohan, BK Tickoo, Sadiq Hussain Malik and Pankaj Sasan.
The tournament is being organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of SS Bali, Deputy Director, Jammu.
Meanwhile, the final match shall be played tomorrow at the same venue.
