Sahil plots Chhattisgarh collapse, J&K in driver’s seat | Col CK Nayudu Under-22 Cricket Tournament | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 13: Promising speedster Sahil Sharma bowled brilliantly and helped Jammu and Kashmir plot collapse of the Chhattisgarh team (130/allout), to put J&K in the driver’s seat in the ongoing 4-day match of the Col CK Nayudu Under-22 Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today. In reply, J&K was comfortably placed at 46/1 in the second innings at stumps on day-2, after gaining a lead of 145 runs in the first innings. Right handed batsman Shubam Khajuria, who is leading scorer for J&K so far in the season including one century and two big fifties, was batting on 29 and skipper Aditya Pratap Singh on 7 runs when the stumps were drawn today. Earlier, resuming their first innings from 244/8, J&K were all-out for 275 runs. Two overnight batsmen Deepak Singh Manhas and Sahil Sharma, contributed 10 and unbeaten 17 runs to the total. Chhattisgarh, in reply lost wickets at regular intervals, thanks to a fine spell of bowling by J&K ‘s duo of pace spearhead Sahil Sharma, who bagged a five wicket haul in his 22 overs by giving away 55 runs and Leg-spinner Manik Gupta, who took 3 wickets in his 12 overs by spending 31 runs. Another leggie Deepak Singh Manhas and Owais Shah also picked a wicket each. Sahil Sharma, in particular, was at his best and bowled with great enthusiasm and valour to create havoc in the Chhattisgarh camp. Chhattisgarh batsmen had no answer to his nagging line and teasing length. From Chhattisgarh, Atul Sharma and M Hashan contributed 43 and 37 runs to the team’s total respectively. J&K was in comfort zone at 46/1 with a total lead of 196 runs when the stumps were drawn today. Shubam Khajuria was on batting on 29 runs including four crispy boundaries, while Aditya was batting on 7 runs. Hilal Ahmed and Rohit Malhotra are with J&K team as manager and joint manager respectively, while Iqbal and Ajaz assist the team as trainer and physio respectively. The match is being officiated by Ramesh Kumar (AP) and S Shankaran (Kerala) as umpires, while Ajay Chopra (HP) is officiating as an online scorer and J&K’s Ashwani Kumar and Vivek Sharma are doing the duty of manual scorers.
