Azad to attend ‘Kargil Martyrs’ memorial on Nov 16 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 13 Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad would pay tributes to ‘Kargil and others Martyrs memorial’ function on November 16 organized in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking in a specially called press conference Choudhary Lal Singh Member Parliament Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Constituency told reporters, “The martyrs’ of Kargil war and others who sacrificed their lives while fighting for the integrity of nation will be remembered and special tributes will be paid to them at a function to be held on November 16 at Kathua at Shaeedi Chowk.’ Congress MP disclosed that Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will be the chief guest on the occasion and will be paying rich floral tributes to the martyrs” Singh said that the 97 martyrs from entire Kathua district who had sacrificed their lives in 1999 Kargil war and other insurgency operation till date will be remembered on the occasion. To a question on revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Congress MP Lal Singh evaded direct reply and said, ‘’it is a sensitive issue and should not be politicised for vested interest.” “Only political benefits are being watched at the behest of AFSPA, till date, he said further adding, “people who had the real stakes should be consulted before reaching to final decision. He however said, “Whatever be the outcome of high level meetings, it should be in the interest of the state.”
