NC using "Jai Chands" to weaken the ongoing movement | New Recruitment Policy | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 13: The student community of Jammu is on the warpath for quite sometime now. They are demanding withdrawal of the new recruitment policy saying it is anti-job, anti-youth and scandalous. Indeed, the new recruitment policy is scandalous. Under the this policy, implementation of which has been stayed by the J&K High Court, persons recruited by the state government will get only 50 per cent of the basic pay for the first two years of service and 75 per cent during the next three years, sans allowances. It is this irrational policy which has infuriated the Jammu youth. The past few days have witnessed massive protests and rallies. The major storm centres are educational institutions, including Jammu University and degree colleges, including the women colleges. The fact of the matter is that the movement is becoming more and more popular with each passing day. The alarmed government is using police force against the peaceful unarmed youth to frighten them, but with no result. The use of brutal force, including arrests, has, in fact, further angered the agitating youth. Convinced that the police force has failed to contain the protesting youth, the NC, which is already in deep trouble owing to the "acts of omission and commission" committed by the chief minister and which wants to retain control over the state power at all cost, asked its youth wing two days ago to confront those demanding withdrawal of the new recruitment policy to create an impression that all are not opposed to it and that the ongoing movement is the brainchild of some "vested interests". This move of the NC leadership did not click for obvious reasons. One of the most notable reasons is that the youth wing of the NC is virtually non-existent. The student community hates the youth wing of the NC in the same way it hates the NC |
