People in militancy infested areas have reservations about revocation of AFSPA | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 13: In view of presence of the militants in higher reaches of various parts of the state people in far-flung and hilly areas have reservations about the revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) as advocated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Giving full credit to the safety of their life and limb to security forces, people living in far-flung and hilly reaches of Jammu region totally differ with the opinion of Mr. Abdullah who has suggested revocation of AFSPA. They give full credit to army for protecting the honour of peaceful loving people in the hilly and far-flung areas. ``Had army not been there, there was no guarantee to our life'', said Ehsan ul Haq a resident of Budhal. He said it was the army who protected the people from onslaught and atrocities of militants during last two decades and in case the army is lifted the militants wandering in upper reaches of Budhal may come down and lure more youth to join their ranks to terrorize the people, he added. He said with the constant pressure of security forces the remaining militants fled to higher reaches and in case there is any leniency on part of Government after revocation of AFSPA they will come to plains and re-group again on the instance of their mentors across the border as Pakistan is hell bent to create disturbances in J&K by sending armed desperados. The militants are still active in higher reaches of Budhal, Koteranka and Mendhar said Rahmatullah of Border Gali area in Mendhar. People are waiting on |
