Twin ‘tree-talks’ held in Amritsar, Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Nov 14: Twin ‘tree-talks’ focusing on heritage trees of Amritsar and Jammu were organized in which several subject specialists, intellectuals, poets, child artists, folk artists and singers highlighted tree traditions and associated folklore. On the inaugural day programme was organized in historic Ram Bagh at Amritsar where it was highlighted that it was royal palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and rare trees added to the grandeur of the royal garden. Poems related environment and green trees were recited by Dr Samir Rai, Dr Inderbir Nijjer, Parminderjit Singh. A poem ‘Harrey Pattey was appreciated while poem Kuj Rukh Meinu Putt Lagde Ne” written by Shiv Kumar Batalvi also got good respone from audience Child artists Kartik Abrol,Karan Kumar, Hargun Kaur presented tree stories, tree music and tree dances on the occasion. Earlier senior forest official O P Sharma outlined ten month long journey of ‘tree talk’ in J&K and felt happiness that invited ‘tree-talks’ have been organized even in Nehru Park, New Delhi and Rambagh, Amritsar. First anniversary of ‘tree-talk’ will be held on Dec 19, at Jammu. On the second day ‘tree-‘talk remained focused on heritage trees of Amritsar and Jammu. It started with discussion on Dukhbhanjani Beri of Harminder Sahib, Jiyopota tree at Jiyopota ghat at Akhnoor and trees at royal palaces at Jammu and Punjab kingdoms
