Educational institutions celebrate Children’s Day

Jammu, Nov 14: A series of programmes on the occasion of “Children Day” today on the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, first Prime Minister of free India
Hundreds of students enrolled under Project PAHL Monday celebrated Children's day in a unique manner.
Instead of organising routine cultural events at their school premises and enjoying day long picnic the students themselves stepped out of their class room and visited slum dwellings in the vicinity spreading awareness about the Childrens' right to education.
The students of project PAHL also spread awareness about the healthy life style and the importance of washing hands before and after eating regular meals.
Led by Damodhar Satri Udyog sanstha Onkar Nath Chandra, school teachers, Sukanya Chib, Secretary of the Damodhar Satri Udyog Sanstha Sunita Chandra and Jasmeet Singh small groups of PAHL students visited and interacted with parents of poor children urging them to enroll their children in the nearest school.
To mark the occasion Govt High School Kotli, Bhaga celebrated Children’s day with the gaity and fervor at their premises by paying rich tributes to first Prime Minister of India, The students of the school participated in the cultural activities. A symposium competition was held in which Mamta Devi bagged first prize and Shivani and Preeti Devi bagged second and third respectively. In the cultural activities Suresh Kumar bagged first prize while Suman and Mohd. Shahid bagged second and third respectively.
Children’s Day was celebrated today in S.D Tara Puri Public High School Gandhi Nagar with great fervour and enthusiasm. Secretary of School Ram Lal Sharma spoke at length on the occasion highlighting the importance of this day. School Principal Ms Neeru Puri also spoke on the occasion and congratulated the students. The function concluded with the distribution of the sweets among the students.
Heritage School also organized a function to mark the Children’s’ Day in the school premises by the teachers to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru today.
The Chief Guest Sanjeev Verma, Deputy Commissioner Jammu congratulated the management for providing world class infra-structure and contemporary education, which would help empower the students the future stakeholders of the society to realize their own dreams. Various stalls of games, joy-rides, bouncy and eatables like momos , pizza , cold drinks, ice-creams , burger, sandwiches etc were put up for the students.
Government Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Parade also organized a function to mark 122nd birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India.
The students participated in various activities that included a colourful cultural programme and seminar on the life and contribution of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru as freedom fighter and being first Prime Minister of the country.
The other institutions which participated in the programme include GHSS Mubarak Mandi, GHSS Rehari, HSS Sarwal, Hari Singh HSS, GHSS Bakshi Nagar, BHSS Bakshi Nagar, HSS Jullaka Mohalla, Central Basic HSS Purani Mandi and others.
The Director School Education, Jammu, G. A. Qureshi, who was the chief guest on the occasion, apprised the gathering that Pandit Nehru gave strong foundation to the country after independence and the present progress and prosperity is the outcome of the foresightedness and visionary outlook of the great leader that gave India recognition amongst the nations of the world.
Qureshi distributed the woollen sweaters and shoes to the students who fall in the categories of poverty lines and other weaker sections.
On the occasion, the Principal of the institution, H D Qureshi presented mementoes to the chief guest and guests of honour on behalf of the students and staff as a token of love and regard.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Dr Narupa Rai, Personal Officer, A C Aimma, Principal SIE, Joint Directors, CEO, Jammu and other officers.
Children Day was also celebrated in the premises of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar.
Principal, S. Gurcharn Singh threw light on the importance of this day. A debate competition was also organized on the occasion.
Government Girls High School Katra also organized a function here today in which a symposium on the topic “Chacha Nehru Love for Children” was organized to mark the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Headmaster Harish Dubey threw light on the importance of this day besides appeal for following the path shown by the Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru to make India a strong nation.
As many as 10 students participated in the symposium competition. Reva Devi, Pooja Devi, Arti Devi students of 10th class and Shabnam of 9th class were adjudged best speakers.
Government High School Kotli Bhaga and Government High Siral also organized the function to pay tributes to the Pt Nehru on his 122nd Birth anniversary.
JK Convent School, Subash Nagar also celebrates Children's day with a colorful function held in school premises. The function starts with Saraswati Vandhna and after it a number of cultural items were performed by students of the school.
The special attraction of the function was Samooh Theatre's presentation of Children's play BOBBY written by Vijay Tendulkar, adapted in Dogri and directed by Ravinder Sharma.
Dr Sudhir Mahajan (Senior Drama instructor of JKAACL) was the Chief-Guest on the occasion. Rohit Bains (Director Of the School) presented the vote of thanks.
Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar Jammu celebrated the 14thNovember 2011 as "Children Day" to remember Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
The Chief Guest Gambhir Dev Singh Charak impressed upon the students to work with full enthusiasm and zeal in making the country progressive and a leading Nation in the world.
Nirmala Koul vice Principal, Dogra Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar, Jammu in the vote of thanks threw light on the life of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. Sweets were distributed among the students.
Children day was celebrated in May Fair Higher Secondary School, Chand Nagar Jammu Special function was organized students participated with great joy in function Some student gave speeches on Jowahar Lal Nehru. After function, Sweets were distributed among student.
Children's Day was celebrated in KC Gurukul Public School Udhampur and KC KIDS Housing Colony Udhampur with lot of fun fare and enthusiasm.
Besides various activities a friendly cricket match between the staff and students was played.
Chairman Anil Mahajan, distributed gift items among the children of both the schools. Academic Director of the school Vijay Puri conveyed her special blessings to the children on the occasion.
A colourful 'Bal-Mela' function was organized at Govt Hari Singh Hr. Sec. School, Eidgah Road, Jammu. Suresh Chander Verma, Principal of the School was the chief guest and he highlighted the importance of the day and described the profound love of Pt. Nehru for the students. The students also took part in various sporting contests where they displayed their talents. Later on the sweets were distributed among the students and also prizes were presented to the best participating students and NCC Cadets in the 'Bal Mela'.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School celebrated a Children’s Day and World Diabetes Day wherein principal of school Rameshwar Mengi was the guest.

Sweets were distributed among the students and gifts were distributed among the participating teachers of Shiksha Niketan family.
In a similar occasion at Jammu Public Hr Sec School, the students celebrated Children’s Day enthusiastically. Paper reading/debates and skits were presented by the students.
Little Flower Hr. Sec. School, Greater Kailash celebrated Children’s Day with great fervour and enthusiasm. A variety of colorful programme was presented by staff members. Classes 1st to 5th participated in different races like Banana Race/Toffee Race/Lemon Spoon Race/Sack Race/Potato Race and 100 mt. Race. Judo Karate demonstration by classes 3rd to 7th left everyone spellbound.
Ms S Malhotra in her address reminded them to follow the path shown by our victorious leaders.
