JAMMU, Nov 14: A joint team of experts from Army and Kishtwar Police on Monday neutralized the IED (Improvised Explosive Device) which was recovered from Jabba area of Keshwan in Kishtwar District on Nov 11 (Friday).
According to police the joint team comprising some experts from Bomb Disposal squad of Army Command Headquarters Udhampur destroyed the IED on the bank of the River Chenab by triggering it.
Pertinent to mention here that the expert were surprised to notice the machination of the IED i.e. dual mode of triggering of the recovered IED as it could be triggered either through remote control or through pressure mode i.e. any kind of pressure including opening of the lid of IED.
Police sources said that after blasting the IED, the Forensic Specialist collected some samples from the blast site so that the quality of the explosive could check.
Meanwhile intelligence sources didn't ruled out the possibility of 390 MW Dool-Hasti Power project in Kishtwar a possible target of Pakistani based terror outfits like LeT and HM. Sources said that keeping in view of the nature of the IED and its possible target, Dool-Hasti power project Dam and Power House at Hasti could possibly be in the mind of foreign militants who prepared this high profile IED.
The project of strategic importance have been under terror target and police earlier had busted a LeT network allegedly involved in targeting Bhagliar hydal Project when Ramban police caught hold of LeT militants attempting to target the ambitious power project i.e. 450MW Bhagliar Power Project constructed at Chanderkot on Chenab. "Keeping in view of the nature of recovered IED to hit the target, one cannot rule out the possibility that militants plans to target Dool-Hasti Power Project in Kishtwar District," said intelligence sources.
The sources said that after the recovery of such type of IED that too in which a new method of preparing of explosive device has been adopted. It is worthwhile to mention that as per the police claims that the recovered IED is a remote controlled IED fitted with double controlled circuit explosive device, which is first type of such IED recovered by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
