| From tooth and nail opposition to showering of praise | | So-called student leader exposes real character | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 14: The so-called student leader and president of Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association (JURSEA) Rakesh Chib has lowered the prestige of student community in general and University scholars in particular. Just 10 days ago, he had issued statement and severely criticized the employment policy. He had termed the policy as anti-youth and ill conceived one. But, suddenly he has changed the stance. Now, he is been appointed as Provincial President of the National Conference Students Union (NCSU). So, it is his natural duty to obey the orders of the masters.
He is representing the scholar community in Jammu University. But, is he the real representative of scholars. The way he shifted the loyalty in the mid of agitation has exposed his real character. The person who was opposing the new employment policy tooth and nail few days ago, has now found the policy revolutionary. He has announced to propagate the policy among the youth. If Chib is so popular among the student community he is required to prove his worth. Merely for the small time benefit he sacrificed the larger cause of the educated unemployed. Hats off to Rakesh Chib.
Instead of taking the ongoing agitation against the black policy of state government to logical conclusion, Chib sold himself to the ruling political party for petty gains. If he is really a scholar of repute and integrity he must had fought the issue. JURSEA is by and large a defunct body and its credit goes to people like Chib. Now, it would be interesting to see how long he will able to stretch his footing in the National Conference party. Besides, what else has to his disposal to offer. |
